I was just diagnosed with Cowden's syndrome (PTEN mutation) within the last 4 weeks. I'm a 35 year old healthy woman. My Mom died of breast cancer at 49 (diagnosed at 44), and so my surgeon (who was scheduled to perform my hysterectomy due to precancer on my cervix) suggested that I have the test in order to know whether she would also remove my ovaries. I was negative for BRCA 1 and 2, but positive for PTEN. I also have a 6.5 year old daughter (and a sister & brother) who has a 50% chance of having it.
